Work, Fun, Dreams, Learning, Lunch and Storms

So, I said the magic phrase yesterday. "I've got some time available, need something to do" WHAM project project project project! (That's a sound effect. I always hear it when I say the magic phrase) So, now with plenty to do, I take more pleasure in my off time to play Final Fantasy Tactics, the demo of Demise: Rise of Ku'tan and other assorted entertainments.

I had a dream last night that I cannot talk about. It's a good one. My spirit soars when I have dreams such as this one. I am flying within my heart.

Was getting bored in Java class today mainly because I'm hung up on a stupid technical thinger. I simply wanted to know the width and heigth of my applet so I didnt have to change oodles of numbers when I change the applet size. So while I spend my spare mind cycles on this efficiency puzzle, I peek over at Dave's version of the java project, and he's got his ship braking in space, shooting multi directional shots and cool curved wave shots and all sorts of coolness. I really got get over my anal retentive coding tendencies and get back to the cool before I turn into a box.

Lunch at Schlotskies (screw the spelling) where I ate a black bread sandwich. This may not seem like much, but in the dark heart of Mooville, anything different is good. Really good.

Storms are hitting Texas hard, both natural and industry. Weird how nature tends to parallel life, but then when you get right down to it, life (our lives) are part of nature so it's really not very weird from nature's perspective.

Take it easy, it's really the best approach to life. -Jg

May You Live in Interesting Times

Life is definitely a rollercoaster. About a week ago I finished a high priority, get it done yesterday project. The kind of project you'd normally plan 6 to 8 weeks for but manage to get it done in under 2 weeks (This done with ingenuity, incredible talent and of course, help from Mike). So, the last week has been rather dull in comparison. Mostly fixing the odd bug from bug reports, finishing up some pending projects that I had more complete than I realized. Thus, plenty of time this week for dabbling in new game designs, programming study etc... Fun, free and boring. Too much free time makes for an idle stitch in time or some stupid phrase.

So, due to all that, I make this comment at lunch that I wish something interesting would happen to cure my boredom. My fellow lunch partners practically impale me with their looks and proclamations of "Don't say that!". I survived. ;) Still I said it, it's out there in the universe, and baby the universe knows it when I say things.

Something interesting occurred. Don't you wish I could say what it was? *evil grin* -Jg

The Mighty Return!

I have returned victorious from my latest Airsoft excursion. I didn't actually win any battles, but I made it back home in one piece, no broken bones, no medical emergencies, and only some sore muscles and muddy clothes to deal with, therefore I win!

Most surprising thing I said during the event: "Dave, don't take this the wrong way but... how does my ass look?"

Most unsurprising thing of the day: David W. was the spy!

Most unlikely match up: 50 inch Jeff hiding behind 8 inch tree.

That's enough for now. -Jg

Prelude to Airsoft Action Adventure

It's that calm part of the day. Still more than an hour before I am forced to pack for a road trip. Nothing to worry about, no pending work to be done, no solid projects that I can begin with any seriousness, just an easy time to relax, read and feed my head. Now if only I was in the Caribbean, my world would be at true peace.

In the mean time, Wassup Superfriends! -Jg

The Sims Invade Mooville!

I have added my Sims creations to the Experiments page. If your a fan of The Sims, and happen to know me or my friends, you might have fun checking it out. If not, try poking around IMDB for entertainment. -Jg

Some things must be experienced.

While perusing my home away from home I discovered this amazing sight. A sight is something to look at that isn't a web page for those of you who have forgotten. Yes, that is a cow alright. Truth is indeed stranger than fiction, and in this case funnier too. -Jg

A new design and a new day

Inspiration often sparks from unknown sources. I definitely got sparked by something. Thus we have a nice new design to go with the nice new server. Welcome to Mooville.net, a pocket of middle America infested by web loggers surrounded by cows. Which ones will go renegade first is anyone's guess.

Woe to me! The IRS want cash from me and they want it NOW. I always find out bad news like this at the beginning of a weekend, so I get to fret and stew in a great big wallow of self pity as well as nice healthy panic about how I am going to deal with it. It's particularly bad since they are threatening to sieze assets. Now, if you know me, I don't have any financially sound 'assets' but I am quite certain the IRS would come along and find something, call it an asset, and take it. Wanna know the sad part of this story? This whole hairy bit of trouble started 2 years back when I got 'lucky' and won 3 grand on a slot machine. I, in my infinite wisdom, decided to do the 'smart' thing and pay off a credit card with it instead of do the fun thing like buy a bunch of computer gear, games, maybe some food, clothing, rent, car repair and oh yeah, save a bit for the IRS when taxes are due next year.

On the up side, I've got my health. I'm way to damn heavy, can't see a brick next to a barn without contacts, my hair grows everywhere but the top of my head, but my heart sounds good which is always nice to hear. Next project is more walking, actual getting up off my ass and moving under my own power (no really, people do this all the time) to help strengthen my legs to prepare for more Airsoft BB dodging. Remind me to see a psychologist about my choice of hobbies.

Enough prattling, I hear Final Fantasy Tactics calling. -Jg
